HOW TO REGISTER
To register as a patient of 1st Impressions Dental Service practice, please contact by phone or e-mail.
All patients wishing to register with the practice will be given a comprehensive initial examination to establish all aspects of their dental needs, enabling us to provide you, the patient, with a comprehensive report including recommended treatment options for your consideration.

URGENT TREATMENT FOR PAIN RELIEF.  New patients needing emergency treatment will be given the initial examination to establish the cause of the dental problem at the time of receiving pain relief treatment. Patients requiring urgent attention should, where possible, contact the practice before 10.30 am. Treatment will then, usually, be provided on the same day for relief of pain. Out of hours emergency treatment can be obtained at either QEQM Hospital or Kent and Canterbury, by calling the Dentaline Call Centre for an assessment on 01634 890300, 0808 238 9797, or by text on
07943 091958. Once assessed, an appointment will be given if deemed necessary.

FILLINGS.  All fillings will be in tooth coloured bonded composite, glass ionomer or porcelain. No silver/mercury amalgam fillings will be available.

CROWN AND BRIDGEWORK - PORCELAIN VENEERS.  These will be available to different levels of aesthetic need - for example - some porcelain gives satisfactory appearance in normal lighting conditions but looks different colours in extreme conditions such as photofloods, UV light, TV lights, and stage lights. So, TV stars and models may need a higher level of colour matching than patients with a more regular lifestyle. The greater the ranges of colour stability, the higher the porcelain laboratory fee. The choice is yours.

TOOTH LIGHTENING. Home bleaching kits involve either making a custom fit tray to carry the bleaching gel, which is used at home at night-time for 2 weeks, or a kit with a standard tray with gel inserts.

GUM CARE. The dental hygienists will carry out all gum care work for you, removing any staining, plaque and tarter from the teeth and showing you how to keep the teeth clear of further build up to keep your mouth healthy.  They will help to identify gum pockets and carry out treatments to improve and eliminate the problem as well as generally advise on home care techniques.

SEDATION. For nervous or apprehensive patients undergoing dental procedures, it is possible to consider intravenous sedation.  This is not a general anaesthetic, but a strong sedative, which leaves you feeling as though you are in a hypnotic trance with little or no awareness of the procedures being carried out and no recollection afterwards.  A very pleasant feeling.  You must be accompanied home after the procedure and cannot drive for 12 hours.

When you make an appointment you are booking the time, the resources and expertise of the staff. We have 2 choices as to how we cover the costs of late cancellations or missed appointments. We either make a charge to cover the costs of the missed appointment, or increase fees overall to absorb the costs. As it seems unfair to penalise those who attend regularly and on time, our adopted policy is to pass the cost to the person who misses or delays cancellation till the last minute. We will always attempt to rebook the time so that there is no loss and therefore no fee to pay, however, if you cancel the booking at short notice (less than one working day), there will be a fee of 75% of the treatment fee payable if we are unsuccessful in rebooking the time slot.

Where possible, as a courtesy, we will phone, text or e-mail a reminder; however, it remains the patient’s responsibility to ensure that the appointment is in their diary and that they remember to attend. You should not rely on any reminder being received.

Important.
Please remove any earrings, tongue studs necklaces and other metal in the facial region prior to your first visit to avoid distortion of any radiograph images that may be taken.
